Alexey Grachev, First Deputy General Director, spoke about this today at the “Miner's Week” at the Moscow University of MISIS. Here are some excerpts from his speech.

BELAZ faced extreme conditions, when over 1.5 thousand of units and components of foreign manufacturer were no longer available for the company. But we not only continued the production of a full range of products, but have also significantly expanded it so that our customers can meet all their production needs in quarry equipment

The heart of the mining dump truck, the engine, became one of the strategic tasks in import substitution, which we’re successfully solving.

YaMZ engines have been used in the 30-55 ton payload segment for many years. Today, engines of Chinese manufacturers and Russian engines that work on liquid natural gas are being implemented. In the 90-ton segment, we offer mining dump trucks with Chinese diesel and gas engines, and also dump trucks with Russian engines that operate on LNG. Thus, today mining dump truck with payload capacity of 90 tons with KADVI gas turbine engine is taking factory tests.

Production of equipment that operates on alternative sources of fuel allows us to offer not only ecological friendly and economically profitable equipment but also create solutions that are independent of sanction pressure. This equipment is in high demand among the customers. We completely formed an order book on 2023.

To create 130-ton dump trucks free from import, the best minds in the plant projected a dump truck with an unusual scheme of operation — hybrid dump truck BELAZ-7513M. The hybrid is almost completely comprises components of Belarusian and Russian production.

This year, we will present a new 220-ton BELAZ with the engine of the Kolomna Plant, which will receive operation tests right after the presentation. Besides, right now prototype of a dump truck with payload capacity of 240 tons with UDMZ engine is being tested in SUEK.

In terms of revenue, 2022 became one of the record–we sold products for over 1 billion dollars.

2023-2024 should become iconic for the production of innovative equipment.

One of the most expected products—Excavator weighing 200 tons and bucket volume 12 CBM, which we will present in the 3^rd quarter of this year. BELAZ excavator will be another step towards the formation of import independence of mining technology in conditions of external restrictions.
