One of the largest investment projects of BELAZ, namely Organization of Ring Rolling Production with the reconstruction of production workshops block, with the investment of 194.8 million Belarusian rubles is designed for 2021-2025.

BELAZ is creating high-tech production focused on the further development of production capacities for heavy-duty mining dump trucks and on the implementation of the new types of products at the site of BELAZ Holding in Orsha.

“This is just an example of a completely new production facility for us with a large volume of construction and installation works and engineering,” - says Sergei Lesin, Deputy General Director - Technical Director of the enterprise.

The introduced rolling technology will make it possible to obtain high-quality blanks of solid-rolled and profile rings from steel of various grades with outer diameter of up to 3 meters and weight of up to 3 tons with high quality and minimal allowance for subsequent processing. Such rings will be used for production of bearings, crown gears of planetary pinions, flanges and other types of similar products.

It should be emphasized that today such blanks are not produced in Belarus. Meanwhile, they are in demand not only on the domestic market, but also on the Russian market. Such high-tech products are used in mechanical engineering, aircraft engine manufacturing, nuclear energy, shipbuilding and other industries. Therefore, the implementation of this ambitious investment project with high export potential will not only lead to the creation of our own high-tech production of rolled rings, but will also ensure their complete import substitution, both for the needs of BELAZ and for other enterprises in Belarus and Russia.

As part of the project started in 2021, the contracts were concluded for the supply of technology and equipment for the Automated line for the production of ring blanks and for the section of their heat treatment. The production and administrative buildings have been erected, interior finishing, supply of utility networks and installation of foundations for equipment are underway.

– The contracted equipment has currently been manufactured and is undergoing preliminary acceptance by the representatives of our company at the manufacturer’s premises before shipment to us. After that we expect all equipment transportation to Orsha, its installation and commissioning, recruitment and training of our personnel, start of the industrial production of the ring blanks for our own needs and for other machine-building enterprises. We plan to complete the main works on the project in 2024, - notes Sergei Lesin.

At this stage, 44.7 million Belarusian rubles have been allocated for the project’s targets from the total amount of funds raised.
