The high-productivity galvanic complex for trucks units’ copper-coating introduced into the manufacturing line

An automatic copper-coating line using hangers and with the complex for air and wastes purification, applied at the thermal-galvanizing workshop has become another product innovation aiming at quality upgrading, raising technological effectiveness of manufacturing process as well as at creation of safe working conditions.

Galvanic production is one of the courses of the vast BELAZ investment program for modernizing the main production line. The modern galvanic equipment line has made copper-coating of the units a fully automatic and highly-productive process, and also optimized the production areas of thermal-galvanizing workshop having replaced two outdated galvanizing lines.

Copper-coating is the process of application of a layer of copper of 1-100 mkm thickness, and in some cases of even greater thickness. The copper coating bears high adhesion characteristics for working with different materials, high moldability and good electric conductivity qualities. It is applied to separate units of BELAZ machinery, in particular, as a sub-layer for metallic-ceramic pad as well as for protection from cementation and for raising the electric conductivity of steel tire.

The new line secures production of high-quality copper coatings with the preset technical characteristics as to thickness, sponginess and the quality of adhesion with the metallic base. Copper coating is applied onto discs, gears and other parts; the total nomenclature today includes 20 denominations. The dimensional galvanic baths being part of the new equipment complex allow increasing the dimensions and the number of the parts being coated. So the maximal area of loading onto one hanger for copper coating has been increased twice and now makes 1,2 м2, and the maximal weight of part is 180 kg.

The new line demonstrates high productivity: as an example, for discs it makes 2,56 m2/h (the copper coating thickness of 12-18 mkm), for gears – 0,32 m2/h (40-60 mkm). At the account of full mechanization of the technological process, the new equipment allows to minimize human factor influence onto the production process.

It is worth noting that at the new copper-coating line introducing, an increased attention was paid to ecological safety and workers health protection domains. The high degree (up to 99%) of air purification from harmful vapors is secured thanks to the autonomous ventilation system applying the wet scrubber with nozzles; and the waste fluids are cleared from impurities with the help of water purification innovative complex.
