The latest model of a special-purpose vehicle, 80-ton BELAZ-79221 slug carrier with a gripping and tilting mechanism for the 11 m3 cup was designed for operational transportation of the residues of foundry production, specifically, for red-hot liquid slag.

The main specificity of production of the trucks of such kind consists in the fact that it is manufactured as a single-unit and a customized product.

The cup of slug carrier, model BELAZ-79221, in contrast to the superseded models, overturns for 180 degrees, which allows to unload even the hardened slug as an integral ingot as well as to keep the cup upside down so that the technological process may be facilitated.

BELAZ-79221 is equipped with an engine of rated power of 353 kW (480 h.p.) and an electronic control unit. The front semi-frame has been modified and well improved to become a multi-purpose one. To increase the operational life, the swing bearing has been reinforced and the articulation angle has been increased as well.

The slug carrier is maneuverable, it moves smoothly in a fully loaded state with the speed not exceeding 16 km/h, preventing the risk of slug spillage.

The cab equipped with two-operator seat is hermetic and comfortable. A broad protective canopy and screen secure safety.

BELAZ 79221 slug carrier has successfully passed the tests: the operating equipment kinematics and all the systems been proved as efficient, its payload capacity and correspondence to the safety requirements has been confirmed.

This week in the BELAZ workshop of the finished products dispatch, the 80-ton slug carrier has been disassembled into major components and then loaded onto the railway platforms to be supplied to the customer.

The special-purpose vehicle with such unique functions is expected in Russia at one of large-scale enterprises in Sverdlovsk region to operate at a new production line.
