The new BELAZ-76473 water sprinkler has started working in the quarry of the leading Russian producer of iron ore raw materials – the Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant named after A.V. Varichev.

The machine, with a tank capacity of 32 cubic meters, irrigates the faces and transport arteries of the quarry with water, settling clouds of ubiquitous dust, which increases the safety of transport operations, extends the service life of quarry equipment and improves the ecology of the quarry as a whole.

One BELAZ-76473 tank, according to Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant miners, is enough to water about 8 km of road at a time on the entire 20-meter width of its roadway. Efficient irrigation is facilitated by a powerful pump that supplies water under high pressure to the fan system of the machine and a rotary monitor nozzle, the range of the water jet of which can reach 60 meters. The spraying system is controlled from the operator's cabin. Such advantages of the BELAZ-76473 water sprinkler significantly save the consumer time and fuel.

- Currently, the division employs 11 water sprinkler machines. They are in demand in the quarry all year round, - noted Sergey Rogozhkin, Chief Engineer of the Automobile and Tractor Department of Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant. - In summer, their main task is to reduce dust in the quarry and improve visibility on the roads. In the cold season, the machines are filled with a reagent to combat ice. The water sprinklers also supply water to drilling rigs to cool the equipment.

Petr Fedorenko has been driving watering BELAZ trucks on the roads of the Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant quarry for almost two decades. He quickly mastered the new equipment. The improved ergonomics and comfort of the BELAZ-76473 cabin helped.

– The machine has a central lubrication system, which increases the service life of components and assemblies. There is also a modern fire extinguishing system. Well, the main advantage of this model, in my opinion, is a more powerful engine. The instrument panel is completely different from previous vehicles, electronic. This year, the Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant fleet, along with a watering machine, was replenished with five new BELAZ dump trucks - two 240-ton trucks and three units of machines with a load capacity of 220, 45 and 30 tons. In total, more than fifty BELAZ quarry dump trucks with a load capacity of 30 to 240 tons are currently used to transport rock mass at the enterprise.
