BELAZ expands cooperation with leading technical universities in the joint training of specialists in the field of mechanical engineering. On December 13, 2024, OJSC «BELAZ» - management company of holding «BELAZ-HOLDING» and the Belarusian National Technical University signed an agreement and a roadmap with specific deadlines on the creation of the BELAZ Innovation Competence Center on the basis of the university.

This unique platform for our country will ensure close cooperation between the world's leading manufacturer of quarry equipment and one of the largest technical universities in Belarus.

At the initial stage, the BELAZ Competence Center will include three training laboratories capable of covering areas that are not presented in the standard university program, but which are in demand at enterprises. In particular, the Intelligent Mining Equipment laboratory will be created, where students will be able to study and work with the BELAZ intelligent monitoring and predictive analytics system (IMS), as well as develop solutions in the field of unmanned transport. An educational and laboratory complex will also be opened, creating opportunities for working on the stands of Hydraulic Drive and Electro-Hydraulic Automatics, Electro-Hydraulic Drives and Automatics, Experimental Fluid Mechanics and Electric Drive. In addition, a systems engineering laboratory will be opened, where students will be able to master design and technological design, 3D modeling, use VR capabilities to study the design of a mining dump truck, its operating principles, the process of its maintenance, as well as the assembly / disassembly of the main units.

In addition, BELAZ and BNTU agreed to conduct joint innovative research in priority scientific areas and develop promising proposals and recommendations in the field of mechanical engineering. Within the framework of the agreement, work will be organized on scientific and methodological support and pedagogical support for teachers and students of engineering classes of schools in Zhodino. It is also envisaged to hold assembly lectures and practical classes by BELAZ specialists, as well as organize and conduct practices and internships for BNTU students, which is an integral element of the formation of future professionals.

"The BELAZ Competence Center is a real investment in the future of Belarusian mechanical engineering. Thanks to the accumulated experience of cooperation with leading technical universities in Russia, we are confident that it will allow us to train specialists who have not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills in working with modern equipment and software, as well as study and interact with BELAZ's advanced digital solutions," said Sergey Lesin, General Director of BELAZ OJSC, after the signing ceremony.

"This is a serious step for our university. BELAZ is a world-class company that takes serious steps to develop education. A good example of this is the Mining University in St. Petersburg, with which they have worked out many technologies. By signing the agreement, we are creating the most serious educational laboratories, there is nothing like this anywhere else in the world. This is our joint pass to a good engineering future. Sergey Ivanovich, thank you very much!" - said BNTU Rector Sergey Kharitonchik in his response.

Currently, BELAZ successfully cooperates with 7 leading technical universities of Russia, where 11 specialized training laboratories have been created. Specialized BELAZ laboratories are open in Kemerovo, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, a branch of the Murmansk Arctic University in the city of Apatity, and the BELAZ Competence Center operates in the Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University.
