BELAZ hosts the intenational billiard tournament “Shield & Sword” + Champion”

Today in “Asilak”, the billiard tournament featuring current champions and medalists of their countries, world and European tournaments from Belarus and Russia takes place. BELAZ team and team from Leningrad region are fighting for the win.

- It became a good tradition to host the tournament “Shield and Sword” on a Belarusian land. And we are even more pleased to see that exactly BELAZ hosts the tournament in his anniversary year. I’m sure, that the competition will give the pleasure to the real fans and professionals of a great sport of that, and the awards will go to the deserving, - said General Director of BELAZ Sergey Nikiforovich at the opening ceremony of the tournament, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of BELAZ and the Year of Peace and Creation.

Also the Chairman of the Executive Committee Dmitri Zablotsky, the Chairman if Belarusian association of billiard Dmitri Annyuk and Igor Sukhovinsky, Generak Director of car-building company “Vineta” (Russian Federation) that is general partner of the tournament, gave a welcome speech.
Among the honorable guests on the opening ceremony were Mstislav Semyonov, vice-president of the Moscow Union of Billiard Sport; Alexander Shershan, chairman of the International Organizing Committee for Billiard Sport "Shield and Sword" among employees and veterans of state bodies of the national security system of the CIS member states; Leonid Dedkov, major-general of the KGB reserve of the Republic of Belarus.

The honourable right to make the first symbolic strike on the pyramid of billiard balls was given to Sergey Nikiforovich, and then the baton to play was taken by Nikita Volodin, the world champion and three-time Russian champion, from the hands of BELAZ manager.

The tournament is a team competition, with amateurs and professionals teaming up to play in pairs. The game's masters, who include employees of our company, will choose the strongest team after two days of battles.
