On December 17, a meeting dedicated to the training of engineering personnel in the country was held at the Belarusian National Technical University with the participation of high-ranking officials and representatives of the largest industrial enterprises of Belarus. As part of the event, Sergey Lesin, General Director of «BELAZ» OJSC, made a report on current issues of training modern technical personnel.

In his speech, Sergey Lesin emphasized that one of the fundamental issues is changing the image of a graduate so that the level of his training corresponds to the tasks facing industrial enterprises today. Increasing industrial practice, introducing programs in the educational process on current areas of development of eco-transport, hybrid and unmanned solutions, the introduction of robotic complexes can become a good support and important elements of the environment in which a future specialist is formed.

The General Director of BELAZ declared its readiness to supplement the existing university program by integrating it into the educational process with a wide range of opportunities for both students and teachers. Starting fr om middle school, our company is ready to actively work with the younger generation, creating all the opportunities to reveal its potential. For this purpose, the BELAZ Competence Center will be opened in Zhodino for students in grades 7-11. This approach will allow children to decide on their future profession, the university, and also better understand what awaits them in the workplace, making the educational path "school-university-work" virtually seamless. The BELAZ Competence Center will have classrooms, computer labs, workshops equipped with educational CNC metalworking equipment - all the conditions to instill in schoolchildren a love for engineering.

Sergey Lesin emphasized that universities are also in the focus of our company. He recalled that on December 13, BELAZ and BNTU signed an agreement and a roadmap with specific deadlines on the creation of the BELAZ Competence Center at the university using the best technological solutions, digital and information technologies in the mechanical engineering industry as an example. At the initial stage, it will include three training laboratories that will be able to cover areas not represented in the curriculum. The laboratories "Intelligent Mining Equipment", "System Engineering", as well as an educational and laboratory complex will be created.

"Without a doubt, a comprehensive approach and deep integration of educational institutions of all levels and a large industrial giant are capable of qualitatively changing both the appearance of a young specialist and his ideas about his future profession. We are confident that the implementation of the developed strategy will not only significantly improve retention at the enterprise, enhance the image of blue-collar and engineering professions, but will also contribute to the development of flexible and systemic thinking of future "BELAZ workers", which will determine the further development of the company," said Sergey Lesin, General Director of OJSC "BELAZ".

Currently, BELAZ successfully cooperates with 7 leading technical universities of Russia, wh ere 11 specialized training laboratories have been created. They are open in Kemerovo, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, a branch of the Murmansk Arctic University in the city of Apatity, and the BELAZ Competence Center operates in the Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University.
