The presentation took place during the grand opening of the test site for diesel-trolley vehicles on June 22, 2021.

This is a completely new type of mining equipment featuring batteries instead of a diesel engine. The operation of such type of equipment is economically profitable — the cost of transporting a ton of the load is much lower compared to the traditional diesel powered vehicles. But, most importantly, this technology allows to completely avoid harmful emissions into the atmosphere and improve the environmental situation on sites where this equipment is operated.

“We presented the dump truck that can operate without an internal combustion engine. The batteries are installed here. We see our development in a hybrid version of the diesel-trolley truck without a diesel engine, powered by battery. In difficult critical areas the truck will move, powered by the overhead trolley line. At the mine face and at the dump, the truck will operate on battery power,” said Siarhei Nikifarovich, General Director of OJSC “BELAZ” — Management Company of Holding “BELAZ-HOLDING”.

Siarhei Nikifarovich also noted the growing interest in BELAZ “green technologies” of on the part of many consumers. In particular, at the trade show “Coal of Russia and Mining-2021” recently held in Novokuznetsk, every second head of customer enterprises showed interest in diesel-trolley and all-electric vehicles.

The Minister of Industry Piotr Parkhomchik is convinced: “Green technologies are the future. Therefore, it was decided to develop a test base so that the engineers could practically see the results of their work. In recent years we built facilities for testing of the diesel-trolley vehicles. This is the first stage in the development of green technologies. The second stage is a dump truck that will be powered by battery.”
