During the spring and summer months, equipment used in open pit mines, especially coal mines, raises huge clouds of dust into the air. This is a serious problem for miners because it impairs visibility and breathing, damages equipment and machinery, and creates an explosive and fire-hazard environment. That's why mine roads and industrial sites must be watered around the clock to suppress and settle the ubiquitous dust.
Modern special vehicles for maintenance of mining and transportation works of BELAZ-7647 series provide transportation and spraying of water for effective moistening of transport routes, thus increasing safety and improving environmental conditions at open-pit mining operations. BELAZ water sprinkling machines are used in regions with temperate and hot climate at air temperature in the range of 0...+40 oC.
The BELAZ-76473 dust fighters, built on the chassis of a 45-ton dump truck, have a complex of fan irrigation and, thanks to a large 32-cubic-meter tank, a 32 kW centrifugal pump with a maximum capacity of 1700 l/min, as well as a whole system of sprinklers, create a real artificial rain with a width of the irrigation zone of more than 24 meters. In addition, the equipment of the irrigation machine includes a vertically and horizontally controllable spray gun with a range of about 60 meters, which allows the machine to be used also for firefighting. The spraying system is controlled from the operator's cabin using buttons on the ergonomic dashboard.
BELAZ-76473 water sprinkling vehicles have proved themselves perfectly at work in difficult mining conditions and today they successfully perform their task of effective dust suppression and increase of safety of transportation works in quarries of Russia, Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe, Mongolia and other countries of the world.
