Last week, BELAZ met the first group – 73 first-year students accompanied by 6 teachers from the Saint Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II. The second and third groups of students from this leading technical university in Russia will arrive in Belarus on July 6 and 13, respectively.

The guests fr om the city on the Neva spent three days of their week-long internship mainly at BELAZ. The students showed a keen interest in the production operations they saw in the enterprise’s workshops, and actively worked at training seminars and dialogue platforms.
The future engineers were interested in literally everything related to BELAZ equipment - serial, innovative, environmentally friendly machinery, namely: modernization, gasification and electrification of quarry dump trucks, digitalization and robotization. And, of course, the young people were most impressed by the steel giants themselves, especially since the most powerful 450- and 360-ton BELAZ dump trucks were on display at the demonstration site near the production of super-heavy vehicles.

During the practice days, the students of the Mining University visited other Belarusian enterprises: Automobile and Tractor Plants located in Minsk, the Heavy Forging Plant and ETON in Zhodino. They visited educational institutions, in particular the Belarusian National Technical University, Zhodino Polytechnic and State Colleges. Their extensive program included excursions around our town and the capital of Belarus. And in addition to the BELAZ’s museum and Zhodino Museum of Local History, the first-year students got acquainted with the largest collection of military relics in the republic in the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
Today, the BELAZ Competence Center successfully operates at the Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, wh ere students learn about the design of BELAZ equipment, the operation of intelligent control systems for the operation of quarry dump trucks, and master the basics of digital mining production. The organization of educational and introductory practices for first-year students of this prestigious university has brought the cooperation between BELAZ and the Mining University to a new level. Familiarization with the specifics of quarry equipment production forms a deep understanding of the process in future mining industry specialists and contributes to their successful development as high-level professionals.
