The Company has started a comprehensive reconstruction of the assembly and test workshop. The vehicles of 130-136 tonnes and 220-240 tonnes payload classes, which are among the most demanded on the world market, were rolled off its conveyor belt.

Modernisation of the leading assembly shop, whose history includes more than four decades, is primarily aimed at improving product quality, manufacturability and efficiency of production of heavy-duty dump trucks of BELAZ.

It is important that the serial production of vehicles at the plant has not stopped. During the reconstruction of the the assembly and test workshop, the assembly of dump trucks with payloads from 130 to 240 tonnes has been relocated to the heavy-duty production area and the main conveyor shop.

- In the course of reconstruction and technical re-equipment of the shop, a number of tasks are to be solved: installation and commissioning of a new painting complex, modernisation of the conveyor line with re-equipment of the filling and refuelling area, replacement of all hoisting cranes, introduction of an information system for production management, etc., - said Evgeny Erakhovets, Head of the the assembly and test workshop.

At the first stage of modernisation of the shop, a large volume of construction works is planned. Dismantling of obsolete structures, coatings, engineering networks and communications is now in the active stage.

This is the first time in decades that the assembly and test workshop will undergo such a profound modernisation using the latest technologies. The modernisation plan includes, among other things, the expansion of the shop entrance gate, the replacement of the skylight with an automatic window opening system, as well as a whole range of works aimed at ensuring energy efficiency in terms of heat preservation and the creation of modern workplaces, which will increase productivity and ensure maximum safety.

Plans to introduce advanced equipment at the the assembly and test workshop are also impressive. For example, a high-tech automated and robotised painting complex will be put into operation at the painting section, which meets all modern requirements, both in terms of the quality of paintwork and environmental, health and safety requirements for workers.

The new conveyor line, according to the shop manager, will allow to increase the production volume by one third, by dividing the assembly process into separate stages in detail. Thanks to the latest locksmith equipment, the flow of assembly of heavy-duty vehicles will become more intensive, and the workplaces at the assembly stations will receive a modern look and equipment. The refuelling station is also to be re-equipped, to which a nitrogen refuelling line for suspension cylinders will be connected and refuelling fluid storage systems will be installed.

Thus, the modernisation of the assembly and test workshop will be the biggest and most technically complex project of the year and an important part of BELAZ's large-scale investment programme for the renewal of the company's production facilities.

- I am sure that the modernisation will give a serious impetus to the production of heavy-duty mining equipment. In the workshop of assembly, testing of vehicles and tractors, working conditions will be significantly improved, labour intensity of operations will be reduced, and the quality of dump trucks assembly will be improved, - summed up the workshop manager Evgeny Yerakhovets.

According to the plans, the main assembly site of our enterprise will be radically transformed and will work in a new way in 6 months - at the end of August this year.
