The grand opening ceremony of the BELAZ service technical center took place on November 14 in the very heart of the Kola Peninsula – in the city of Apatity. Our branded center became the first in the Northwestern Federal District and already the 12th in Russia.

The BELAZ service technical center is designed to provide high-quality and prompt technical maintenance of BELAZ quarry equipment, which will generally improve the efficiency of its operation at mining enterprises in the Murmansk region.

- BELAZ has been present in the region for many years, our equipment has been successfully used here for decades. Today, about 300 units of our equipment are used in the Murmansk region, - noted Sergey Lesin, General Director of «BELAZ» OJSC, in his speech. - Even the most reliable and high-quality machines require regular maintenance, which must be carried out promptly and at a high level. Our primary task is to ensure full satisfaction of our customers' needs and improve the efficiency of equipment operation. We will continue and increase cooperation with the Murmansk region!

The new BELAZ service technical center in Apatity, located on an area of 1,700 sq.m., is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment and includes a production workshop, an administrative block, warehouses for spare parts, components and fuels and lubricants.

The center's highly qualified personnel not only provides high-quality maintenance and repair of quarry equipment in the shortest possible time, but also performs work on its modernization in accordance with BELAZ design documentation.

The importance and relevance of opening such a center for the development of the mining industry in the Murmansk region was noted by our company’s strategic partners in the region.

- This is an important event for us, - noted Nikolay Seleznev, General Director of «Olkon» JSC. - More than half of our fleet is made up of BELAZ products. Thanks to the creation of this center, we will be able to increase the efficiency of dump trucks and auxiliary equipment. I congratulate my colleagues on the opening and wish them productive work.

– The history of Apatit and BELAZ has been closely intertwined for several decades, – said Andrey Abrashitov, Director of the Kirov branch of «Apatit» JSC. – The first BELAZ trucks arrived at the plant in 1966, they were 27-ton models... Since then, both the volumes of open-pit mining and the load capacity of the vehicles have only grown. In 2019, 180-ton dump trucks appeared at Apatit for the first time. Now we have signed an agreement for the supply of seven more vehicles. These are already 220-ton models, which have not been used at our enterprise until today.

Thus, the opening of the BELAZ service technical center in the Murmansk region is a strategically important step that contributes not only to the improvement of quarry equipment service, but also to the overall development of the region's mining industry, creating conditions for sustainable growth for all participants in the cooperation.
