At «INNOPROM. Belarus» exhibition, an important step was made in the development of mechanical engineering: an agreement was signed to establish a Belarusian-Russian joint venture focused on the development of innovative unmanned and hydrogen-powered BELAZ dump trucks.

On September 30, at “INNOPROM. Belarus” International Industrial Exhibition, OJSC BELAZ, JSC “RT-Business Development”a subsidiary of “Rostec” State Corporation, and OJSC “InDev Solutions” signed an agreement to establish a new technology enterprise combining advanced engineering developments, digital technologies, and clean energy for the mining industry. The development of unmanned and hydrogen-powered 220-ton BELAZ mining dump trucks is provided by the Agreement. These new solutions will fully comply with modern trends in mining engineering.

Unmanned BELAZ with remote control will be equipped with an intelligent dispatching system that will ensure full control and autonomous operation of the dump truck 24/7, while computer vision technologies and neural network algorithms will allow the equipment to independently recognize objects, predict routes for optimal movement and make decisions in real time, increasing its efficiency.

BELAZ mining dump truck, which uses hydrogen cells to generate energy, represents a highly promising project in the context of the development of hydrogen energy, also in mining transport segment. Today, the use of hydrogen, as the most environmentally friendly alternative fuel produced using renewable energy, is a good way to expand the existing energy resource base and reduce the negative impact on the environment.

“The Joint Venture with “Rostec” and “InDev Solutions” is an important strategic step for BELAZ, aimed at achieving the company's key goals: implementing advanced technologies, improving efficiency and ecological properties of goods, and strengthening its position in the global market. Implementation of modern unmanned mining systems and the use of green technologies will not only improve the safety and efficiency of BELAZ equipment but also reduce its environmental impact. Contribution of our experience and expertise will enable us to develop innovative solutions that will bring tangible benefits to our customers, ensuring reliability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainable development of the mining industry as a whole”, noted Sergey Lesin, General Director of OJSC “BELAZ”.
