A new level of efficiency: BELAZ modernizes gear wheel production

Conventional gear-shaping machines, characterized by labour-intensive operations, are being replaced by modern, high-performance CNC gear hobbing technology.

"High-speed gear profile processing technology on the new milling equipment will increase efficiency by 2-3 times and, when implemented across the entire range of gears, reduce the labor intensity of parts production by 5,700 N/h per year," noted Andrey Kovalev, Deputy General Director – Technical Director of BELAZ.

The new gear hobbing machine will process the external gear rims of large crown gears up to 1250 mm in diameter using hobbing cutters. The plans include the purchase and introduction of another programmable machine for internal gear profile milling.
