From traditional trade relations to broad technological integration and effective cooperation, BELAZ is building a common ecosystem of mining equipment in collaboration with Russian companies.
By ramping up its own production capacity, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and developing key component production jointly with strategic partners in the Union State allowing BELAZ to minimize the share of imports from third countries. This confirms the company's willingness to meet the growing needs of Russian miners for high-tech equipment that meets international standards of quality, reliability and productivity.
– Russia is more than a key market for us; it's a space for ensuring shared technological sovereignty," notes Sergey Lesin, General Director of BELAZ. "We're moving from the 'supplier-customer' model to a new level model —'development partners'. BELAZ is actively integrating Russian components and assemblies: engines, traction electric drives, and control systems. Our goal is to jointly create a fleet of mining equipment that utilizes domestic technologies and has a minimal environmental impact. This is precisely the kind of ecosystem we are currently creating with our Russian partners.
Consumers' demand to reduce fuel costs, air pollution in mines and create new types of equipment has become a powerful incentive for the diversification of BELAZ products. A number of new and upgraded models of highly efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles have been developed and presented for both open-pit mining and underground mining.
Innovative BELAZ gas-powered mining dump trucks with payload capacities of 90 and 130 tons, as well as fundamentally new types of heavy-duty special equipment for our company, are already undergoing real-world testing in Russia's largest mining regions.
BELAZ-7558H mining dump trucks with payload capacity of 90 tons powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) are proving their effectiveness in Kuzbass open-pit mines. According to Alexander Naskovets, General Designer of BELAZ, eleven 90-ton dump trucks and one 130-ton BELAZ-7513P LNG-powered truck have been operating reliably in coal mining for several years. The customer is satisfied with the trucks, which enable significant fuel savings, as LNG is cheaper than diesel, and sees great potential in gas-powered vehicles. The availability rate (AR) of LNG-powered dump trucks is currently comparable to the AR of serial production vehicles, which confirms that this is a fully operational solution for the mining industry. Plus, just recently, at a specialized exhibition in Novokuznetsk, we unveiled the most powerful gas-powered dump truck – 220-ton BELAZ-7530R, expanding our line of LNG-powered vehicles.
The first heavy-duty 70-ton BELAZ-79770 grader is undergoing industrial testing at the Kuzbassrazrezugol coal company. Six decades of fruitful cooperation with the company has allowed BELAZ workers to develop cutting-edge equipment and refine it to perfection, while Kuzbass miners have confidently deployed these vehicles in the most challenging coal mining conditions.
At the same time, BELAZ, in cooperation with partners, is strengthening its position in other segments of special equipment in demand in Russia: bulldozers, loaders, aircraft tugs, and mining equipment are being modernized. It should be emphasized that all promising new products feature a high degree of component localization.
The development of a common ecosystem of mining equipment is a long-term contribution to the technological safety and economic efficiency of the Union State's mining sector. This mutually beneficial partnership allows us to jointly address modern challenges while setting new standards for the global mining industry.
