On Day of Knowledge, September 1, BELAZ opened its first specialized classrooms in Zhodino. The project launched at two locations: School No. 6 opened its doors to a "BELAZ Chemistry Classroom," and School No. 8 opened its doors to a "BELAZ Physics Classroom." These classrooms were the first in the city, marking the beginning of the company's ambitious strategy to develop a modern educational environment.
This isn't just a cosmetic makeover. The key goal is to engage children as much as possible in the learning process and make laboratory experiments truly visual. This approach not only prepares competent graduates but also helps future students develop an interest in technical specialties fr om their school days.
BELAZ's rational and long-term strategy
Physics and chemistry – representatives of the natural and exact sciences—are among the foundational sciences of engineering. Physics is responsible for mechanics, electrical engineering, and load dynamics, while chemistry is responsible for the properties of materials, heat treatment, and chemical resistance of components, which determine the longevity of mining equipment. .
"First of all, we create a unique environment for schoolchildren that will engage them in learning. For the younger generation, engagement is a key factor in successful education. We must spark children's interest in science as early as possible, which is why BELAZ has taken an unconventional approach to this task," said Sergey Lesin, General Director of BELAZ, at the opening. He emphasized that the new, modern renovation and design of classrooms in BELAZ's style are only part of the project. "In addition to completely renovating the interior and furniture, we have equipped the classrooms with the latest laboratory equipment, ensuring that learning takes place not only in a beautiful space but also elicits a lively response during practical assignments," added Sergey Lesin. General Director of BELAZ noted that equipping school classrooms may not seem like BELAZ's core business, but the company takes a much deeper approach: "Our long-term expert assessment shows that schoolchildren's poor understanding of their future professions often leads to disappointment and even a loss of interest in learning." Through such close collaboration with schools, BELAZ is building a system that will attract motivated young people to universities, clearly understanding what they want to study and what they want to become in the future.
"A child who, in high school, built an electrical circuit on a test bench or conducted an experiment with a device to illustrate the law of conservation of mass, by the 11th grade already consciously chooses an engineering major, rather than attending a technical university just for the sake of it or at their parents' insistence," believes Sergei Lesin. "By combining these efforts with the upcoming BELAZ Technical Creativity Center in Zhodino, which will emphasize practical experience, and with branded laboratories at two technical universities across the country, we are laying a solid foundation for the continuous development of young people along the 'School-University-BELAZ' trajectory, keeping motivated students within our orbit," BELAZ top manager shared his plans.
Place wh ere theory meets practice
Instead of traditional walls, there's a modern space, every detail of which is designed in BELAZ's style, visually uniting the school environment with the factory culture. Thoughtful ergonomics of the furniture, educational posters, and art objects all create a working atmosphere where creative thinking is awakened and attention is focused on the main thing.
In the chemistry class of school No. 6, the emphasis is on the applied aspect. Everything necessary for lab work was purchased: a large quantity of reagents, 200 test tubes, porcelain glassware, specialized equipment, and dozens of measuring flasks that meet all quality standards and strict school education requirements.
Chemistry teacher Natalia Gnedko describes her new workspace: "In addition to the stunning modern classroom design, which makes teaching and learning a breeze, we can move fr om 'chalk' chemistry to experimental chemistry thanks to the latest classroom equipment. This is what sparks students' interest. This is what will truly make them fall in love with chemistry."
To visually support laboratory work, BELAZ equipped the laboratory with sets of natural samples. These educational collections cover a wide range of materials – fr om natural minerals (granite, quartz, minerals and rocks, peat, coal) to industrially processed products (cast iron, metals, plastics, glass, petroleum products, fuel, fibers). Now children can not only see all of this in pictures but also touch it with their own hands. This will help them better understand the material without additional lessons.
The physics classroom at School No. 8 is equipped with laboratory equipment previously unavailable to students. Specifically, a geometric optics setup allows for real-time observation of spherical aberration and determination of lens focal lengths—without additional settings or third-party equipment. A special modular system with the ability to quickly change panels covers over 18 topics in electricity and magnetism—from Ohm's law to hysteresis loops and resonance in oscillatory circuits. A built-in oscilloscope and signal generator allow students to create dynamic processes themselves, rather than imagining them mentally.
"For a long time, some very important and interesting topics had to be explained only schematically because there was a lack of equipment for real experiments. With the opening of the BELAZ PHYSICS CLASSROOM, we can finally move from theory on the board to live, exploratory physics. The opportunity to verify a law, observe a process, and measure a quantity with your own hands is what sparks excitement and interest in students. This is precisely the foundation that helps them not just learn the subject, but truly become passionate about it," commented Yevgeny Deniskin, physics teacher at School No. 8, on the opening of the class.

Today, the company is setting an example of how to work for the future. And this is invaluable for the city," emphasizes Alexander Tsivako, Chairman of the Zhodino City Executive Committee.
Not a point, but a sequential chain: how classes fit into the larger educational architecture of BELAZ
The opening of classrooms in two schools is only the foundation of the system that BELAZ is purposefully building. They will help motivate children to attend the BELAZ Technical Creativity Center in Zhodino, which is expected to open soon and represents the next level in this system. "For students in grades 8–11, we are creating modern classrooms, computer labs, and workshops with CNC metalworking equipment for training. The center will become a hub wh ere highly motivated students can deepen their knowledge gained in BELAZ classrooms and try their hand at real-life design and machining of parts. "This is a place wh ere schoolchildren can become more familiar with vocational skills and engineering practice," says Alexey Grachev, Deputy General Director for Strategic Development and Corporate Management at BELAZ. The company plans to organize specialized Olympiads in core school subjects, as well as teacher competitions, to maximize educator engagement in engineering. High school students will be able to master specific vocational skills, giving them a real advantage in admissions and employment through enhanced skills. For BELAZ, all of this combined will provide a valuable opportunity to offer targeted training and subsequent employment to school graduates who have a clear understanding of their future careers.
This is how not a one-time event is born, but an entire ecosystem: fr om the school desk to the desired specialty, from laboratory experience to real-world engineering. School – the Center for Technical Creativity – acquiring a profession – BELAZ. This is not just a ladder of knowledge; it is a journey wh ere each step enhances interest, not dampens it. And when today's seventh-grader, after some time, arrives at the plant no longer as a newbie, but as a prepared, passionate professional, it will only mean that on September 1, 2026, BELAZ built not just classrooms, but the future for its industry and its country.
