BELAZ’s long-standing strategic partner on Russia’s Kola Peninsula, the Kovdor Mining and Processing Plant, has reached an impressive milestone in its more than 60-year history of mining operations – 800 million tons of ore have been extracted.

This significant milestone in the company’s production history was celebrated with a ceremony right there, at the working face. Symbolically, the honorable mission of transporting the milestone ton of ore from the mine fell to a 130-ton BELAZ dump truck, driven by one of the plant’s most experienced operators. Six excavator buckets were loaded into the spacious BELAZ truck to the applause of the miners, and the Belarusian giant proudly rolled along the mine road.

According to the management of the Kovdor Mining and Processing Plant, the plant continues to develop, implementing investment programs to modernize and improve mining efficiency. In recent years, the mining equipment fleet has significantly expanded with the introduction of modern BELAZ-7530 series dump trucks with a payload capacity of 220 tons, perfectly adapted to the harsh climate of the Russian Arctic.

In 2025, more than 30 new Belarusian mining dump trucks entered service at the Kovdor mine, quickly earning the miners’ trust for their efficiency, high productivity, operational reliability, and comfortable and safe working conditions for operators. Currently, the mining and processing plant operates BELAZ dump trucks with payload capacities ranging from 130 to 240 tons.
