A CNC plasma cutting machine, manufactured in the Russian Federation, has become an integral part of the production process after its commissioning at OJSC BELAZ.

This gantry-type equipment is used for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous sheet metal along contours specified in the control program, and is capable of cutting complex geometric shapes from sheet metal.

– "This plasma cutting machine in the blank-production workshop was commissioned in 2026 and has already proven itself, ensuring the efficiency of the production process. The productivity of the new system is up to 1.5 times higher than the equipment it replaced," noted Andrey Kovalev, Deputy General Director and Technical Director of BELAZ. "High cutting precision is achieved through automated control. The existing filter and ventilation units, designed to remove combustion products from the cutting zone and clean the air, ensure compliance with environmental requirements".

It should be noted that the range of parts has increased, as the new CNC machine cuts rolled products up to 50 mm thick, whereas the old machines had a limit of 16 mm. It is used for cutting blanks of frame and bodies parts for almost all modifications of BELAZ mining dump trucks. And here, quality, including the quality of metal cutting, is very important. For example, the frame is a load-bearing structural element, ensuring the stability of mining equipment under the enormous loads it experiences in mine.
