On June 24, just prior to the opening of the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, hosted by Minsk and Minsk Region, was held a ceremony to sign agreements between BELAZ and partners from St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Novotroitsk. The joint projects are aimed at localization of traction electric drives production and implementation of high-strength Ural steel into the production of extra-heavy dump trucks.

The documents were signed by Sergey Lesin, General Director of OJSC “BELAZ”, and the heads of the partner companies: Anton Grebenshchikov, Deputy General Director of JSC “Power Machines, Alexander Bychkov, Director of the Mining Transport Management of JSC Ruselprom. Electric Machines, and Dmitry Simakov, Commercial Director of JSC Ural Steel.

Jointly with Power Machines, located in St. Petersburg, BELAZ is localizing the production of powerful traction electric drives for extra heavy mining trucks with a payload capacity of 290–360 tons. The project is long-term challenge, with a five-year program to develop bilateral cooperation.

Together with Ruselprom, located in Moscow, we will develop design solutions for the manufacture of electric transmission components for 290-ton BELAZ trucks. Another direction of the partnership will be joint implementation of a significant import-substitution project to create the first Russian-Belarusian-produced powertrain for a passenger aerial tramway.

BELAZ and Ural Steel agreed on joint testing of high-strength rolled metal products. The agreement is subject to the supply by the Novotroitsk company a pilot batch of wear-resistant metal. The intention is to introduce Russian steel into the production cycle for the production of heavy-duty platforms for BELAZ dump trucks with a payload capacity of 130–220 tons.

These agreements represent a continuation of our long-standing mutually beneficial cooperation and industrial collaboration with our Russian partners, noted Sergei Lesin after the signing ceremony. Together, we remain committed to using components and materials produced at Union State enterprises. We are expanding our list of traction drive suppliers to ensure the required volume, quality, and at the best possible price. We are implementing innovative ultra strong steel and creating fundamentally new import-substituting products. Our general purpose is to provide strategic industries in Belarus and Russia with reliable, top-quality equipment.

The program of the visit combined the past and the present of BELAZ. Guests appreciated the scale of production on assembly lines, learned about the company's glorious history in the museum of the enterprise, and saw famous equipment of the world's leading mining equipment manufacturer, represented at a huge exhibition site.

The Forum of Regions 2026 will officially begin tomorrow, June 25. Two of the ten thematic sections will be held at BELAZ facility. Delegates will focus on key discussion topics: "Supporting the Economic Development of Belarus and Russia: Implements and Opportunities" and "Regional Development: Performance evaluation, Achieving Priorities and Goals, and Promoting Economic Growth."
