Ten horizontal-milling centers have become a key component of BELAZ's programmable machine shop. The new line for high-precision machining of parts for mining dump trucks with payload capacity ranging from 90 to 360 tons is more than just a technological upgrade, it's a strategic step toward making our equipment even better and more reliable.
– "We continue to integrate modern CNC equipment into our production," says Andrey Kovalev, Deputy General Director and Technical Director of BELAZ. – The new multifunctional machining centers take part processing to a fundamentally new level and provide production with the necessary flexibility to quickly develop new products and adapt to customer needs."
The equipment for the large-scale production line, located in the section for mechanical processing of body parts and rotation body parts in the programmable machine shop, was put into operation in stages: eight centers were commissioned over the last year, and two more were put into operation this spring.
In a single setup of the workpiece on the new program-controlled machines, a whole range of high-precision metalworking operations is performed, including milling, boring, threading, drilling of suspension elements, steering components, and body parts – a total of about 30 types of products. One operator serves two such centers. The technology of complex processing in one setup reduces labor intensity and increases the productivity of component manufacturing.
BELAZ is modernizing production facilities and improving technological processes to implement the company's policy of improving product quality. The result is even more reliable and efficient mining equipment.
