The highlight of the International Mining Technology Exhibition "Coal of Russia and Mining 2026," opened on June 2 in Novokuznetsk, was the first showing of BELAZ-7530P – a 220-tonne mining dump truck powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The high-profile BELAZ unveiling was attended by Kemerovo Region Governor Ilya Seredyuk, other officials, and representatives of major mining companies.
Two key innovations of BELAZ-7530P are an advanced gas piston engine designed specifically for environmentally friendly fuel, and a new-generation cab that implements higher standards of ergonomics, comfort, and operator safety.
"We estimate that 30% of our fleet of vehicles will eventually be equipped with gas piston engines. We'll conduct pilot tests of 220-tonne dump trucks and expand the technology into the most popular classes, namely: 90, 130, and 220 tonnes. I believe the coming years will be the most likely to see widespread adoption of gas-powered mining equipment among our customers," - emphasized Sergei Lesin, General Director of BELAZ.
BELAZ-7530P dump truck is the latest development, expanding the company's range of gas-powered vehicles for the mining industry. The vehicle's powertrain consists of a 1,716 kW (2,335 hp) gas piston engine, working in conjunction with the electric traction drive and onboard control electronics.
Crucially, using LNG as fuel significantly improves the economics and reduces the environmental impact of mining operations. The economic impact is evident due to the low cost of gas compared to diesel fuel: according to the experts, one such 220-tonne LNG-powered truck can save its owner approximately 35 million Russian rubles on fuel annually. Environmental performance in quarries is also improved by significantly reducing toxic emissions.
Furthermore, BELAZ gas-powered dump truck features an improved work-place, the ergonomics of which guarantee the operator the most comfortable and safe working conditions.
"We've invested extensive experience, knowledge, and advanced technology into creating the new BELAZ dump truck cab, where comfort and safety are not just options, but the foundation for unrivaled productivity. For our partners, the new cab offers an opportunity to attract top specialists, reduce costs, and improve business efficiency. We're confident that mining companies will appreciate this new standard of care for those who control the might of BELAZ trucks," - noted General Director of our company.
Another important event took place on the first day of the Exhibition in Novokuznetsk: BELAZ and Kuzbassrazrezugol signed a partnership agreement to implement the innovative mining equipment and the joint projects.
"The signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with our key partner, Kuzbassrazrezugol, marks a new stage in our relationship and underscores the importance of Kuzbass as a region of strategic value for BELAZ. For 60 years, we have been jointly developing and improving the technologies and introducing the innovations, and that not only contributes to the increased efficiency of BELAZ mining equipment but also enhances the production potential of the coal industry. We are confident that this agreement will form the foundation for further successful implementation of our projects and will allow us to reach new heights in our joint work," - said Sergei Lesin, BELAZ General Director.
Roman Smirnov, Production Director of Kuzbassrazrezugol, emphasized that "today, BELAZ equipment forms the core of the company's fleet. Over six decades of cooperation, Belarusian mining dump trucks have proven their reliability, productivity, and efficiency. This strategic partnership agreement cements our mutual long-term intentions to collaborate for the benefit of coal mining and mechanical engineering."
During all four working days of Coal of Russia and Mining 2026 Exhibition, BELAZ delegation will participate in a comprehensive business program: the International Scientific and Practical Conference, the Interactive Industry Forum, and Thematic Roundtables. The company's top managers will have a number of meetings and negotiations with both existing and new partners from the Russian regions.
